Paraffin Treatments

Paraffin is applied to the skin at the end of the facial, during the mask. The paraffin can either be applied over a treatment cream or applied over a mask. Your Aesthetician will inform you which treatment option is best for your skin. For anti-aging purposes, an anti-aging cream is applied and the paraffin is applied over a layer of gauze. For dry and dehydrated skin, the hydrating mask is applied and the paraffin is applied over a layer of gauze. Gauze is applied prior to the paraffin because it sticks better to the gauze and then acts as a vacuum sealer.

Q: How does Paraffin hydrate and help products penetrate into the skin?
A: Paraffin treatments are warm and the heat helps to increase blood supply to the treated area. Moisture is drawn from underlying skin layers and rises to the skin’s surface where it is mixed with the product applied. The moisture cannot escape because paraffin causes a vacuum sealer. The moisture is infused back into the skin and rejuvenates hydrates and nourishes the skin.

- Patients with the following medical conditions should not receive paraffin treatments:

High blood pressure
Diabetes
Varicose veins
Open cuts or wounds
Unusual skin disorder
