Chemical Peels

As we age, the accumulated effects of sun exposure, pollutants, acne, and scarring can damage our skin and cause us to look older than we are. Such skin damage can be treated with a chemical peel, a non-invasive procedure designed to promote cell growth and produce smoother, clearer skin. At Stoneleigh we offer Glycolic Acid and Jessner Peels.

Salicylic Acid Treatments

Salicylic Acid, a Beta-Hydroxy Acid, is a highly effective superficial peeling agent, oil reducer and pore cleanser. Salicylic is one of the most effective ingredients to combat the cause of facial oil, acne and blemishes as well as it provides an excellent rejuvenation addition and alternative to a Glycolic peel.

  • a salicylic peel loosens and removes aging cells, oil and debris attached to the skin surface.
  • salicylic is oil-soluble and lipophilic so it penetrates sebum filled follicles and cleans out clogged pores, resulting in marked improvement in acne prone skin.
  • it stimulates new healthy skin cell production and increased collagen formation.

Regular use of Salicylic Acid will also result in a decrease in fine lines and result in smoother skin, more even pigmentation, and a reduction in pore size.

Glycolic Acid Peel
Great for problematic skin, hyper pigmentation, fine lines, a dry/ashy appearance, and providing an even skin tone. Derived from sugar cane, it is available in strengths ranging from 30% - 70%. Due to its small molecular size, Glycolic Acid is believed to be the most effective AHA exfoliant.

Jessner Peel
The Jessner Peel combines resourceful, salicylic acid, lactic acid, and ethanol to provide a very noticeable and effective exfoliation. Jessner Peels are deeper than AHA peels due to the combination of peeling agents. Results are visible after only one treatment. The Jessner Peel process usually requires one full week from application to completion and are great for those who are acne prone, have sun damage, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, or an uneven skin tone.

Up to 6 layers of solution are applied to the skin producing a mild "sunburn". After 2 -3 days, the surface skin will darken and tighten, and eventually begin to visibly exfoliate off. When complete, the soft and healthy underlying skin is the final result.

Q: How is a chemical peel performed?
A: All chemical peels involve applying a chemical solution to remove the outer layers of skin so that a smoother, more evenly pigmented, glowing layer of skin can appear. Your aesthetician will tailor the treatment to the needs of your skin. In general, the stronger the chemical, the deeper the peel, and the more impressive the results. However, the deeper the peel, the more pain you’re likely to experience and the longer the recovery time will be.
